Marcellus Wiley, the former NFL defensive end and sports media personality, was arrested on an allegation of domestic battery on July 4, according to NBC Sports’ Mike Florio. The arrest took place in Orange County, Florida, where Wiley was booked into the county jail.

Wiley, 51, was being held without bond at the time the report was published. No formal charge details or a probable-cause affidavit had been released as of the initial report.

Per NBC Sports, the arrest was first reported by TMZ, which posted its item at 8:58 a.m. ET on Sunday. Jail records confirmed Wiley was booked on July 4 and remained in custody.

The specific circumstances of the alleged incident have not been disclosed. No details from law enforcement or court filings were publicly available at the time of publication. Florio noted in his piece: “Obviously, Wiley is innocent until proven guilty. He’s entitled to all of the various Constitutional protections. Regardless, something happened to result in his arrest. He’ll surely have a response to the charge – unless his lawyer tells him to say nothing about it.”

Wiley’s Career in the NFL & Media

Wiley played 10 seasons in the NFL, appearing for the Buffalo Bills, San Diego Chargers, Dallas Cowboys, and Jacksonville Jaguars. He earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2001 following a 13-sack season with the Chargers, finishing his career with 44 sacks across 147 games.

After retiring, Wiley built a prominent media career. He worked at ESPN through 2018 before joining Fox Sports, where he remained until 2022. Since leaving Fox, he has been active in independent media and podcasting. He is also publicly known as the husband of Annemarie Wiley, who appeared as a cast member on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

This arrest is not the first serious allegation Wiley has faced publicly. In 2023 and 2024, multiple civil claims of sexual assault were brought against him, with accusers alleging incidents dating to his time at Columbia University and early in his Bills career. Wiley publicly denied those allegations.
