Derrick Henry is not thinking about retirement. Heading into his 11th NFL season with the Baltimore Ravens, the 32-year-old made that abundantly clear on Thursday.

Speaking at Ravens training camp, Henry addressed his timeline, per Jeff Zrebiec of TheAthletic.com. “That’s not even my mindset. My mindset is how can I get better, so we can be the best team we can be. I haven’t thought about retirement at all.”

“I love the game, and once I feel like that love is gone, then I’ll hang it up. But I’m just focused on getting better.”

Henry Still Produces at an Elite Level

The retirement questions exist for a reason. Henry is 32, an age at which most running backs are already winding down or out of the league entirely. But his output since arriving in Baltimore has made those questions feel premature. He is under contract with the Ravens through 2027, and the team has continued to build its offense around him alongside Lamar Jackson.

In two seasons with the Ravens, Henry has rushed for 3,516 yards and scored 34 touchdowns. His durability has been just as notable as his production.

Henry has played all 17 games in each of his last three seasons. The kind of durability keeps a team’s confidence high heading into a long season. For a player who has consistently defied the aging curve at his position, the body of work backs up the confidence.

What This Means for Baltimore in 2026

A fully committed Henry is significant for the Ravens. Baltimore’s offense functions differently when defenses have to account for a back who can take the game over at any moment. That dynamic does not exist without Henry being locked in. Everything he said on Thursday suggests that he is on the eve of yet another new season.

Henry’s message heading into 2026 is straightforward. The love for the game is still there, and until it isn’t, he is not going anywhere. For the Ravens, that is exactly what they needed to hear at the start of camp.
